Product Description:
Polysorbate 80 is a non-ionic, amphiphilic surfactant. It appears as a pale-yellow to orange viscous liquid, freely soluble in water, ethanol, methanol, and ethyl acetate (ρ ≈ 1.06–1.09; saponification value 45–55). Ester, ether, olefinic and hydroxyl groups in its structure make it prone to hydrolysis, complexation, auto-oxidation and photodegradation under appropriate conditions.

Industrial-grade Polysorbate 80 – Principal Applications:
- Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR)
Functions as a high-performance surfactant to reduce interfacial tension (IFT) between crude oil and formation brine, generating stable oil-in-water emulsions that mobilize residual hydrocarbons and improve sweep efficiency in mature reservoirs.
- Textile & Fiber Processing
Serves as a spin-finish additive and antistatic agent for synthetic fibers (e.g., PET, nylon), providing lubrication to minimize filament–metal friction and suppress static charge accumulation, thereby enhancing fiber cohesion and downstream processing performance.
- Polyurethane Foam Manufacture
Acts as a cell-opening surfactant and foam stabilizer during the expansion of flexible and rigid PU foams, regulating nucleation and bubble coalescence to yield uniform cell morphology and optimized mechanical properties (compression set, tensile strength).
